Rockland Furniture Recalls to Repair Round Cribs Due to Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Hazards
Sold Exclusively at jcpenney.
Consumers can contact us for an immobilization kit sent at no charge.
What is this safety recall about?
The round cribs’ drop sides can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop side to fall out of position, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged or entrapped, which can lead to strangulation or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. Drop-side incidents can also occur due to incorrect assembly and with age-related wear and tear. Please see the official press release here on CPSC's website.
How will my crib be repaired?
An immobilization kit will be sent out to you free of charge provided you have a jcpenney Rockland round crib. This kit will allow you to install over the existing dropside hardware making the drop side "static" or unmovable. Please note that this kit will ONLY fit the jcpenney Rockland Furntiure round crib.
If you have a crib that is NOT a Rockland jcpenney round crib, please contact the appropriate manufacturer for your crib. Usage of a Rockland immobilization kit on a non-Rockland round crib may result in serious injury or harm.
How do I know if I have a jcpenney Rockland Furniture round crib?
This recall includes Rockland Furniture round cribs imported and sold by jcpenney from 1/2005 to 12/2008. The round cribs used plastic hardware to attach the drop side. The model number can be found on a rectangular label located on the lower portion of the headboard panel.
|343-8314 ROUND CRIB
On the inner panel of every crib, there is a serial label identifying it as a Rockland Furniture crib. Crib could either have one of these two labels.
I have an affected crib, how do I get my immobilization kit?
Please click the link below to access an on-line order form. Follow the instructions and fill it out in its entirety. Information will be verified as these kits will only work on a Rockland/jcpenney round crib. Incomplete forms may cause a delay in processing your request.
Kits are sent out within 3 business days after requests have been made. Depending on mail delivery times, please allow up to 10 business days to receive your kit.
My current hardware is not working/damaged/broken, will this kit work?
Unfortunately, this kit will only work on cribs with original hardware still functioning. Since this crib has not been sold since 12/2008, the original hardware is no longer produced therefore, not available. DO NOT USE this kit on a crib with damaged existing hardware. Doing so will endanger the safety of the child.
