Rockland Furniture Recalls to Repair Drop-Side Cribs Due to Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Hazards

Sold Exclusively at jcpenney.
Consumers can contact us for an immobilization kit sent at no charge.

What is this safety recall about?
The cribs’ drop sides can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop side to fall out of position, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged or entrapped, which can lead to strangulation or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. Drop-side incidents can also occur due to incorrect assembly and with age-related wear and tear. Please see the official press release here on CPSC's website.

How will my crib be repaired?
An immobilization kit will be sent out to you free of charge provided you have one of the affected cribs listed below. This kit will allow you to install over the existing dropside hardware making the drop side "static" or unmovable. Please note that this kit will ONLY fit the following cribs listed below and not on any other drop side crib.

If you have a crib that is NOT a Rockland jcpenney crib, please contact the appropriate manufacturer for your crib. Usage of a Rockland immobilization kit on a non-Rockland crib may result in serious injury or harm.

Which crib models are affected?
This recall includes Rockland Furniture drop-side crib models imported and sold by jcpenney from 2005 to 2008. The wooden cribs used plastic hardware to attach the drop side. The model number can be found on a rectangular label located on the lower portion of the headboard panel.

How do I know what crib I have?
On the headboard or side panel of every crib, there is a serial label with the model number of the crib. Sample of image is below.

Locate the model number and write it down. Your number may be longer than 7 digits. It is the first 7 digits that begins with 343 that will identify your crib. This is information that will be needed to fill out the information on the kit request form.
